Travel

By car

If you’re driving from London, it will take you between 5-7 hours, depending on the time and day you leave.

It’s a pretty simple drive otherwise, just following your satnav directions.

Things to be mindful of are:

  1. Try and avoid the Stonehenge route as rubber necking and A roads lead to a lot of traffic

  2. The day and time you’ll be traveling - you may think leaving late morning is a good idea but that could mean arriving into Cornwall at rush hour where roads are congested

  3. It’s the bank holiday weekend and summer holiday so the road will likely be busy

Parking

Crucially, you should be aware that the parking situation in Fowey can be tricky, especially during Regatta. (The Fowey Harbour Hotel has some parking spots for guests staying at the hotel, but please do check with the hotel before.)

There is sometimes some street parking available on some of the roads further out from the town but as it’s Regatta Week, it will likely be impossible to take advantage of these.

Alternatively there are two paid parking spots in Fowey either in:

In the event you cannot find parking in Fowey, you would be to park in one of towns or villages nearby and taxi into Fowey.

By train

Suddenly the idea of getting a train may become more appealing!

Trains run regularly from London Paddington into Par Station, which is closest station to Fowey. Trains from London will take about 4.5 hours.

From Par Station, Fowey is about a 10 minutes by taxi. There are several taxi companies in Par (we will update this page closer to the time with details with some of the taxi companies you can book)
